“Oh Willy” in competition at the Festival of Clermont-Ferrand
The animated short film of Emma De Swaef Jamesand Marc Roels will compete in the National Festivalof Short Films from Clermont-Ferrand from January 27 to February 4. This puppet animation film produced by Beast Animation and co-produced by the studio Monday Highly! in Rennes.
Synopsis: On the death of his mother, Willy returns to the community of nature in which he grew up. Made melancholy by his memories, he decides to flee into the wild where he finds the protection of a big hairybeast.
“Oh Willy” is the latest creation from Swaef Emma, a former graduate in documentary filmmaking from the School of Saint-Luc, which develops an original animation and wool fabrics. The director has alreadysuccessfully tested this technique in the short film “Zachte Planten”, an award-winning film that played at festival Anima 2009 in Brussels.
Puppets and sets for some of the ”Oh Willy” were conducted in Rennes in the studio Highly Monday! who co-produced the film alongside the Belgian Beast Animation.
The relationship between Beast Animation and Highly Monday! was not born with this film. In 2005/2006, the studio created by Ben and Steven Tesseur Beulassured of a large part of the animation for the film adaptation of Pierre Corneille’s Cid conducted by Emmanuelle Gorgiard. The two companies will work together again in 2012 on the draft puppets animated series created by Dimitri Agnes Lecreux developed by Highly Monday! with the participation of France Televisions Youth.
