Boris-Noris is a fun film by Laura-Beth Cowley which depicts the greed and uncontrollable anger experienced between two characters. The story starts with an innocent walk on the beach by one of the characters who sees a dead fish and decides to eat it. This right away is a red flag that the character is not right in the head. We soon discover that the character is a collector of sorts and continues to wander the beach looking for items and animals. Once the site of a bomb comes into the characters view the narrow vision of this character is obvious. He is absolutely insane. Right away we see a conflict with an opposing character who looks to be the identical twin of the first character. These two characters we can assume are Boris and Noris which we were introduced to in the naming of the film. They battle and fight and work their way to possessing the bomb. Eventually this is a big mistake and BOOM! Blown to pieces!!!
The film is a wild and fun adventure in stop motion animation. You can see the handmade elements up close and the textures and colors of the film are wonderful. The animation is truly a romp on the wild side with fun noodle-ee walk cycles and crazy replacement expressions and elements. Laura-Beth Cowley did an exceptional job with the help of her crew. They film has been running the festival circuit and it’s a great treat to finally be able to see it online. Such a fun film that is now available for viewing on Vimeo. Check it out below:
