An Argentina animator/director, Juan Pablo Zaramella created this fun stop-motion animation short for opening of the International Animation Festival, ‘Anima Mundi’. In this short film, the main character; a chef, starts cooking unique style of pasta with fun ingredients such as a camera and a light bulb, and he makes ‘a film tape-pasta’. Right after he enjoyed the dish, his eyes turn a film projector. It is a fun concept and great story telling!
I was inspired his creativity from this video and interested how he thinks about telling a story. Then, I found his interview video that was by Animation World Network. Juan talks about his thoughts of a story telling in the video and says “expressing humor” is very important, and he often takes notes of many ideas. He also mentions, “spending a long time to develop the idea” that makes him comfortable to create his animation. He did not talk about his film of ‘Anima Mundi’ in this interview video, yet I think what he said in this interview is related for this fun cooking video.
Also, Juan’s pixilation animated short film, LUMINARIES (https://vimeo.com/24051768), shows his humorous and creativity as well. This film nominated and won more than 300 awards including the Oscars Shortlist for Best Animated Short.
