For the 2019 edition of the Just Dance! game, creative director Damien Pousse joined with Javier Tostado´s Clay Animation Studio in Valencia, Spain, to make one of the dance coaches in the track “Mi Mi Mi” (from “Serebro”, covered by “Hit the Electro Beat”) a stop motion character.
Work process for the track was the same for the Just Dance! team: they prepared the dance coaches (professional choreographers or dancers that collaborate with them) in costume and makeup and recorded their performances against green screen.
The footage of one of the coaches was sent then to Valencia, Spain, to use as a reference for the movements of the puppet. The background designs were also created by the stop motion studio.
The result is a fun video to dance to, with a really catchy song, good luck getting it out of your head!
Pousse is keeping this trend going: for the 2020 edition of the game there´s another track with stop motion by Clay Animation Studios. We´ll keep you posted!
