Winner of the Annecy Audience Award and 2020 Oscar Best Animation Short nominee, Bruno Collete´s film about a painter who´s dealing with alzheimer keeps getting high praise around festivals. Twelve months in the making, this short film treats Alzheimer’s disease in a sensitive and moving way.
“Louis, the painter and his wife Michelle are experiencing strange events recently. The universe around them seems to be changing. Little by little, the furniture, the objects, the people are deconstructing; sometimes they disintegrate … ”
The director says he wanted to place himself on the patient’s head. Often seen trough the caregiver´s eyes, paintings from William Utermohlen, who left a self-portrait evolution of alzheimer, were an inspiration to portray the disease and its advance, first hand.
