Illustrator and animator Alain Mathiot shares the behind the scenes video of his animated short “Michel le Rétro-robot du futur”.
The piece, who´s in competition for the 10th Nikon Film Festival, tells the story about “Michel, and old generation robot, abandoned in the desert. He´s found by a rock recolector robot who takes him under its protection. Unfortunately, in this hostile environment, danger is not far…”
In the 6.4 minute video, the filmmaker discloses the work process of the short, showing materials, background and prop construction, rigs, and software (Sketch Up Pro, Stop Motion Pro for animating, Vegas Pro for editing, LMMS for audio editing, Open Toonz for the animatic, GIMP for clean-up).
