Rilakkuma and Kaoru is set to arrive on Netflix April 19th 2019. The lovable and iconic character from Japan called Rilakkuma is getting its own television series on Netflix. The project is set to be a smash hit given the very large popularity of the character that even rivals Hello Kitties popularity worldwide. Rilakkuma and Kaoru is a show that follows a young woman named Kaoru who unexpectedly has a new roommate named Rilakkuma who is bear with a zipper on its back. There are a couple of other characters in the show that fans may notice such as Korilakkuma the little white bear and Kiiroitori the little yellow bird. These three fluffy characters will melt your heart with their lazy everyday fun and love.
The show is produced at Dwarf Studios in Japan (http://www.dw-f.jp/english/) and with this studios legendary productions such a Komaneka and Domo it is no surprise that Netflix has a winning combination here. The production is all hand made stop motion animation. You will be very surprised to see any CGI in this production. Dwarf studios utilizes a master level of production while staying true to the art form and executing a style that is purely all their own. Mikado Tabe will voice the character Kaoru. The show will be 13 episodes running 10 minutes each and is directed by Masahito Kobayashi. Netflix describes the series as “Kaoru’s unexpected new roommate is Rilakkuma, a bear with a zipper on its back that spends each day just lazing around — but is impossible to hate.” We can’t wait to have this series melt our heart.
