Universal recently announced the launch of their Animation Writers Program. This program which is currently taking applications until January 17th 2020, will focus on one film track and 2 kids tracks (kids 6-11 or pre-school 3-5). The program hopes to diversify and promote the artistic creativity in a new crop of writers who will be selected for this year long program. Selected applicants will work on 2 scripts throughout the year in Los Angeles California and receive pay of $75,000. The scripts will be considered for pilot productions by Universal but are not guaranteed being picked up for production. The Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) will be spear heading the program and this will allow writers to work in collaboration with the various afflicted business entities such as Dream Works Animation, Illumination, and 1440 Entertainment.
