Adam Elliot Designs Posters for BIAF2025, Emphasizing Introspection and Optimism
Adam Elliot, the Oscar-winning director acclaimed for his distinct stop-motion animation style, has designed the official posters for the 27th Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF2025), to be held from October 24 to 28, 2025, in South Korea. The announcement continues a tradition of the festival highlighting unique artistic contributions from renowned animators.
Elliot’s recent film Memoir of a Snail—which won the Grand Prize at BIAF2024—serves as a backdrop to his poster designs. The film, praised for its poignant exploration of trauma through a lens of dark humor and childlike sincerity, also earned the Crystal Award at the Annecy International Animation Festival and was nominated for the 97th Academy Awards (Zippy Frames, 2024).
The two posters reflect key emotional themes. The first, titled Introspection, delves into self-reflection, with Elliot noting that “the best stories come from deep within,” highlighting how personal experiences often serve as the richest sources for narrative inspiration. The second poster, Don’t Worry Be Happy, features a joyful character embracing their imperfections, conveying a message of self-acceptance and hopeful resilience (Zippy Frames, 2024).
Together, these works not only showcase Elliot’s visual storytelling but also align with BIAF2025’s mission to celebrate authenticity and emotional depth in animation. Through these visuals, Elliot invites audiences to embrace both the complexities and joys of the human experience.
