Festival de Stop Motion del Cusco Opens Call for Entries
The city of Cusco, Peru will host the first-ever Festival Internacional de Stop Motion del Cusco from October 22–25, 2025, bringing together filmmakers, students, studios, and audiences in celebration of stop-motion animation.
Organizers of the new festival have launched an international open call for short films and productions created in stop motion. Artists of all ages and from every corner of the world are invited to submit their work.
A Celebration of Tradition, Creativity, and Innovation
The festival aims to promote and expand the art of stop motion in a region where cultural heritage and creative innovation go hand in hand. Alongside film screenings, the event will feature talks, workshops, and educational activities, creating opportunities for both professionals and newcomers to learn and connect.
“Stop motion combines the handmade with the technological, evoking the magic of bringing the inanimate to life,” organizers explained in their press release. “We want this first edition to showcase diverse stories, foster cultural exchange, and contribute to the growth of animation in Peru and beyond.”
Categories for Participation
Submissions are accepted across four categories:

Peruvian Category – Works by Peruvian authors or collectives.

Latin American Category – Productions from Latin America (excluding Peru).

International Category – Works from any territory outside of Latin America.

Made by Children – Films created by children under 16 years old.
How to Participate
Participation is free of charge. Films must have been produced from 2020 onward in any variant of stop motion (including claymation, puppet animation, cut-out, or pixilation). Works with dialogue or text in languages other than Spanish must include subtitles.

The official selection will be announced on October 15, 2025. Selected works will be screened at festival venues in Cusco and may also be included in cultural and educational showcase programs, with the consent of their creators.
