Guillermo Del Toro has approved the go ahead with a whole new redesign of Victoria Beers limited addition beers cans that will depict his likeness. Previously Del Toro scolded Victoria brand for lack of approval in using the directors likeness and likenesses of characters from his films for use on their special edition beer cans. The brand had created 5 million cans with three different images, one with Guillermo Del Toro himself and 2 others, one with the hand of the Pale Man from “Pans Labyrinth” and the other with a personal character design created by Del Toro. The announcement of Guillermo Del Toro’s support came via Twitter where he announced.
“@VictoriaMX and I have talked. With goodwill, the misunderstanding has been solved. The cans with my face and signature will be submitted by new graphic design (without profit for me), and on their side, part of the profits will be donated to CDMXOMM and @SOMEXICO. Thank you,” – Guillermo Del Toro
The Academy Award Winning director is no stranger to offering charity and donations to causes he believes in. He has supported many causes and recently had reached praise from many around the world for his assistance in flying a group of students to travel to the Mathematics International Olympiad.
The incident with Victoria Brand seems to be behind both parties now and we are extremely excited with the prospect of being able to collect a few of these cans and drink a few as well. Keep your eye’s open for the upcoming future release of the Guillermo Del Toro certified Victoria Brand beer cans and check back with us about any future updates connected with this story.
