A stop-motion animator, Dan MacKenzie had released this amazing short, Create, in 2012. This short is his senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. On Dan’s Vimeo account, he mentions it is about “A young mad scientist sets out to create a pet monster within parallel worlds of an imaginary laboratory and the reality of the boy’s bedroom”. It is like you are creating a Frankenstein. Kids are good at making believe and playing within their imaginary worlds, and they really enjoy it. You remember you used to talk with your favorite stuffed toy, you used think how to fly in the sky with your umbrellas, and you and your brother/sister used to built a tent with your bed sheets and brought your favorite snacks, books, and toys in there. All kids can be very creative, and I think that is awesome! However, the fun creativity and purity fade away when you become to an adult. This short film, Create, will take you back your beautiful childhood memories.
Dan is a Los Angeles based stop-motion animator and is known for his stop-motion animation on LAIKA’s ParaNorman(2012), The Boxtrolls(2014), Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa(2015), and many TV shows.
