From Jim Capobianco, (writer of Rattatouille and contributor in Inside Out, Coco, Wall-E, etc.), and Aerial Contrivance Workshop, comes the story of Leonardo da Vinci and his inquisitive curiosity:

The Inventor

Written and directed by Capobianco, the film is in its genesis, being trough several short versions of the character, in 2D and stop motion. From armature testing, to christmas cards, the cute Leonardo character has been around for some time now and it´s finally getting the feature film treatment soon. The film is a European and American coproduction from Foliascope (France), Melusine Productions (Luxembourg), Curiosity Studio (Ireland), and Leo & King (USA).

Other names involved with the film are DoP Peter Sorg (Coraline, Frankenweenie), 2D animator Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea), producer Don Hahn (The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast),

“Currently in pre-production The Inventor is a stylized, stop motion puppet and 2-D hand drawn animated film about Leonardo Da Vinci.

The insatiably curious and headstrong inventor Leonardo da Vinci leaves Italy to join the French court, where he can experiment freely, inventing flying contraptions, incredible machines, and studying the human body. There, joined in his adventure by the audacious princess Marguerite, Leonardo will uncover the answer to the ultimate question ~ “What is the meaning of it all? “

Inspired by the life and times of Leonardo da Vinci – “The Inventor” is the humorous and touching story of the headstrong Leonardo leaving Italy at the request of the French court to be First Painter, Engineer and Architect to his majesty King Francis I. It is here, away from all that he knows, where Leonardo discovers the true meaning of life itself.

This exhilarating adventure will be voiced by Stephen Fry (Leonardo) and Daisy Ridley (Marguerite) – with additional cast to be announced soon.”

The production is launching a kickstarter campaign soon.
