Stop-Motion Series Sissi & Caesar Lands Broadcasters

At this year’s Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, a new stop-motion preschool series titled Sissi & Caesar took the spotlight, drawing attention from major broadcasters in both Spain and Chile. Spanish pubcasters RTVE and À Punt, along with Chile’s CNTV and TVN, have boarded the international co-production, signaling strong support for the show’s unique environmental message and handcrafted aesthetic.

A Colorful Mission

  • Sissi & Caesar* (26 x 7’) follows the adventures of two rainbow penguins who travel the world protecting the colors of nature from what the creators call a “chromatic crisis.” Alongside friendly local animals, the pair highlight the beauty and wisdom of the natural world while restoring its vibrant palette, one color at a time.

The series presents ecological sustainability and climate change through an optimistic lens, encouraging children to see that even the smallest actions can make a difference.

International Collaboration

The project is a co-production between Pangur Animation in Spain and Tres Tercios in Chile, directed by Gabriela Villalobos. The production has received support from the Valencian Institute of Culture and Ibermedia, adding further momentum to the show’s international scope.

Producer Leticia Montalvá Sánchez of Pangur Animation emphasizes that beyond the narrative, the team is committed to implementing environmentally responsible stop-motion production practices. This sustainability ethos extends not only to the story’s message but also to the way the series is made.

Recognition on the Festival Circuit

Before its official broadcaster commitments, Sissi & Caesar had already been gaining traction within the animation industry. The series was highlighted at Cartoon Forum 2025 as one of the standout preschool projects, and it previously received recognition at the Animarkt Stop Motion Forum. This festival presence underscores its appeal to both professionals and audiences seeking innovative children’s programming.

Why It Matters

Stop-motion is uniquely positioned to connect young audiences with themes of nature and ecology. The tactile, handcrafted approach lends authenticity and warmth that resonates with preschoolers while reinforcing the value of the physical world.

By merging environmental storytelling with sustainable production methods, Sissi & Caesar sets an example of how stop-motion can carry forward not just artistic tradition but also social and ecological responsibility.

Looking Ahead

With the support of broadcasters in Europe and Latin America, Sissi & Caesar is poised for wide distribution and impact. The series highlights how international collaboration can amplify the reach of stop-motion projects, while also demonstrating the medium’s ability to tackle pressing global issues for the next generation.

For the creators and supporters of Sissi & Caesar, the hope is clear: inspire children to cherish the colors of nature, and empower them to protect the planet—one small action at a time.
