Long has David Allen been a legend in the stop motion world. His abilities and contributions to the stop motion special effects world were massive. He not only worked on the early Gumby, along with Davey and Goliath series but went on to be a major special effects animator on some big movies such as Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Laser Blast, Robot Jox, Puppet Master (1, 2, and 3), and *Batteries Not Included to just name a handful of productions.
If you ask anyone who knew David Allen you’d hear lots of praise and admiration for the artist. In 1999 he became ill and passed away leaving behind not just a legacy but an unfinished masterpiece of stop motion visual effects titled The Primevals. This film was set to be an instant cult classic. Even though it wasn’t completed or released, the legendary word of mouth that this film holds has brought a lot of interest into whether or not this film will ever see the light of day. Thankfully with the help of Full Moon the production looks to be on its way to having a completion date. The film is literally 30 years in the making!
In an article published by coming soon.net it was stated that long time friend and collaborator Chris Endicott would be manning the helm of the production to bring the film to completion. Endicott has also stated that this is a thing that is happening through a series of posts on Facebook and then released the following video confirming all is true. We are still waiting to hear when the fundraiser will start. So stay tuned for when you can help make this amazing film a reality.
