Blinkink’s Andy & Adeena Bring a Handcrafted Stop-Motion World to Life for Xfinity

Blinkink’s celebrated directing duo Andy Biddle and Adeena Grubb have once again proven the magic of stop-motion animation in modern advertising with their new campaign for Xfinity WiFi — a heart-warming miniature world where a rabbit family discovers the joy of staying connected.

The film, titled Imagine That: Rabbits, unfolds in a lovingly handcrafted home bustling with life, fur, and technology. Every frame bursts with texture and warmth, blending nostalgic storybook aesthetics with the relatable chaos of a modern household. Through a seamless mix of humor and heartfelt moments, the spot captures a universal theme — the beauty of connection in everyday family life.

Behind the charming fur and cozy set pieces lies an extraordinary feat of craftsmanship. Andy & Adeena teamed up with the acclaimed model-making studio Sculpt-Double, the same artisans behind Fantastic Mr. Fox, Frankenweenie, and Isle of Dogs. Their collaboration brought to life an entire cast of rabbits — each puppet meticulously handmade, re-dressed, and cleverly reused to maintain a sustainable production process without sacrificing detail.

“We wanted to really lean into that tactile, handcrafted quality,” explains Andy Biddle, whose animation credits include Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, Beetlejuice, and ParaNorman. “Everything was done in-camera with minimal post-production. If you see seven rabbits in a shot, that’s because we truly did animate all seven, together in shot.”

Co-director Adeena Grubb adds, “It was incredible seeing the rabbit home pieced together for the final shot — an almost 12-foot-tall beast! I’m so proud of what our team achieved. It’s the kind of film you need to watch several times to spot all the fun little details we embedded throughout.”

Visually, the commercial evokes the textured charm of Wind in the Willows and Fantastic Mr. Fox, yet it feels undeniably contemporary — bridging the analog tactility of stop-motion with the digital rhythm of modern family life. The film’s every detail — from the hand-stitched fur to the blinking WiFi gadgets — tells a story that feels both timeless and timely.

While much of today’s commercial animation leans heavily on digital post-production, this campaign celebrates stop-motion’s enduring ability to captivate audiences through real materials, light, and movement. For Biddle and Grubb, the emphasis on in-camera craft was key: a commitment to the purity of the medium and the joy of collaboration.

Beyond its visual appeal, the Xfinity WiFi campaign underscores a growing trend in advertising — using handmade animation to humanize modern technology. Through the lens of a furry family’s daily adventures, the spot reminds viewers that connectivity is ultimately about closeness and creativity, not just devices and data speeds.

With its playful tone, intricate puppetry, and imaginative production design, Blinkink’s latest work stands as another testament to the studio’s leadership in contemporary stop-motion storytelling. For practitioners and fans alike, it’s an inspiring example of how tactile artistry can bring a digital-age brand message to life — one frame at a time.
